Sydney Aquarium

Andrew outside the Sydney Aquarium

Off to see another one of Sydney’s “must see” attractions – the Sydney Aquarium.  Located in Darling Harbour, its one of the city’s largest tourist attractions next to they Harbour bridge and the Opera house,  and one of the largest aquariums in the world. If you are planning on seeing 2 or 3 of either the Aquarium, Wildlife World, located next door, or the Sydney Tower, I would recommend purchasing a Discovery Pass, unless you have a student or backpacker discount card.  The Discovery Pass gives you 20% off for visiting 2 of the attractions and 25% off for visiting all 3. (Regular admissions is $31.95 for adults and $17.95 for children).  You have one year from the date of purchase to visit the attractions.

Dugong Underwater Exhibit

The “big” attractions at the aquarium include the two dugongs, or “sea cows”  which legend has that they were often mistaken for mermaids by European sailors (I really don’t see any resemblance at all on this one). The other main attraction is the shark tank, who doesn’t love sharks? This massive tank is surrounded by a series of underwater tunnels so you can walk under the tank and see the sharks, stingrays and fish swim above your head. Very cool experience. On top of that there are about 650 different species of aquatic life, so there is something for everyone. Be sure to attend some of the different animal presentations, and don’t miss the shark feed!

Great blog. Glad you enjoyed your visit.

If you get a moment (and we understand you’re busy having fun, which must come first, obviously), we’d really appreciate it if you could fill out our brief survey, because we want to make things even better for our visitors.

It’s here:

Thanks again, and keep up the blogging! Great work.
